The second-hand industrial machinery market continues to gain importance in sectors such as plastics, packaging and beverages, particularly in a context marked by longer delivery times and rising prices for new machinery.
More and more companies that traditionally purchased new equipment are now turning to second-hand machinery in order to keep their projects moving forward. The immediate availability of used equipment has become a decisive factor at a time when many manufacturers of new machinery are experiencing significant delays.
In this context, MachinePoint, a company specialized in the buying and selling of second-hand machinery for the plastics, recycling, beverage and packaging industries, participated in Eurasia Packaging 2021, the largest annual packaging industry trade fair in the region. The event took place from October 20 to 23, 2021 at the Tüyap Exhibition Center in Istanbul, bringing together companies and professionals from around the world.
Meeting clients again and analysing market trends
The MachinePoint team travelled to Istanbul for three days in order to reconnect with clients, better understand their current needs and analyse the latest trends in the second-hand machinery market.
Volkan Yilmaz and Zümran Açmaz, sales managers at MachinePoint, highlighted the significant increase in visitors compared to previous editions, with a strong presence of senior decision-makers and executives.
According to them, the current market situation — marked by supply shortages and delays in component distribution — is affecting even original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), who are experiencing extended delivery times.
As a result, the second-hand machinery market is increasingly positioning itself as a fast and effective solution for companies looking to expand or upgrade their production lines.
Strong demand for used machinery in Turkey
The exhibition also confirmed the growing interest of the Turkish market in purchasing second-hand machinery.
In the plastics sector, the most requested machines were:
- Flexible packaging printing machines
- Slitter rewinders
In the beverage sector, the greatest interest focused on:
- Complete filling lines
- Injection and stretch blow molding machines for PET bottles
Among the most sought-after brands were leading manufacturers such as Sidel, Krones, Husky and Nissei.
Eurasia Packaging 2021: a leading international trade fair
The 26th edition of Eurasia Packaging was held for the first time in a hybrid format at the Tüyap Exhibition Center in Istanbul. According to the organizers, the event was highly successful and welcomed a record number of international visitors from countries including Germany, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Israel, Iraq, Iran, Romania, Ukraine, Jordan and Greece.
As Zümran Açmaz, Sales Manager at MachinePoint, explains:
